How did it all begin? As a fourth-generation, family-owned plumbing company, we have a beautiful backstory. Being too young for World War I and too old for World War II, our founder, John W. Kaiser, started his one-man plumbing shop on Arizona Avenue in the 1940s.
John had four daughters. The second eldest, Catherine, met and married Michael Saffer. A D-Day Navy Veteran, Michael came back from the war eager to start a family and get busy starting and growing his plumbing career.
John and Michael worked together until 1968, when Michael took over and renamed the business "Saffer Plumbing & Heating." Michael's oldest son, David, joined the business in 1984 and began to grow it over the next 20 years. David developed the business into a respected, professional outfit.
In the 2000s, David's son, Chris, joined the company, and the family continued the growth of the business, earning multiple Best of Baltimore awards and expanding into electrical service, water treatment, and home automation. Now, Saffer Plumbing stands proud as the premier plumbing company in Baltimore, delighting new generations of customers and assembling and training the finest team of professionals in town.
